Reading

At Abbey Gates, our goal is to ensure that all children become successful readers. We believe that reading is a key life skill and is essential for overall academic success. We understand how complex this process is for children and are fully aware of the need to provide them with a secure foundation to develop these skills, whilst promoting a love and enjoyment of  reading.

In year 6, we encourage children to read at least 3 times a week at home - this could be your school reading book, one of your favourite books from home, a comic or newspaper or something online - read whatever it is you love to read and don't forget to record it in your reading diary!

KS2 Booklists (Ages 7-11)

This website provides a huge selection of recommended booklists for children in KS2 covering everything from storytime favourites and top graphic novels to popular curriculum topics like the RomansRocks & Soils and Space.

Abbey Gates children can browse the Reading for Pleasure recommended read lists or curriculum booklists to find the very best books for them to read in KS2 so they can enjoy reading at home and/or in the classroom.
