At Abbey Gates, our goal is to ensure that all children become successful readers. We believe that reading is a key life skill and is essential for overall academic success. We understand how complex this process is for children and are fully aware of the need to provide them with a secure foundation to develop these skills, whilst promoting a love and enjoyment of  reading.

In year 4, we encourage children to try to read at least 3 times a week at home (this can be with an adult or something that the children do independently) - this could be your school reading book, one of your favourite books from home, a comic or newspaper or something online - read whatever it is you love to read and don't forget to record it in your reading diary!
