In F2, your child learned the graphemes from the Phase 2 and Phase 3 sound mats.

In Year 1 we will be continuing to build on that knowledge.

In the Autumn term we covered all of the graphemes from our Phase 5a sound mat. 

In the Spring term we focus on our Phase 5b sound mat, which looks at alternative pronunciations. 

Common Exception Words - 

By the end of Year 1 there are a set of words that each child should be taught how to spell, this are words that we cannot apply our phonics knowledge.
