Welcome to Year 2!

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Year 2. This is an exciting and important year, full of opportunities for learning, growth, and discovery as the children continue their journey through Key Stage 1. Together, we will be working hard to make sure your child feels confident and ready to move on to Key Stage 2.

Year 2 is a time where children build on the strong foundations they have developed so far, deepening their understanding across all subjects. We will enjoy exploring new projects, developing problem-solving skills, and celebrating creativity and curiosity in the classroom.

Here's a sneak preview at what’s coming up this year...

• Autumn Term: We'll be diving into our Discover Project, focusing on History.
• Spring Term: Get ready for our Explore Project, delving into the realm of Geography.
• Summer Term: Unleash your creativity with our Create Project, focussing on Art and Music.

One of the most important parts of Year 2 is continuing to nurture a love of reading. Reading at home and at school plays a vital role in your child’s learning, helping to strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and imagination. We encourage you to read with your child regularly, share stories together, and talk about what you’ve read—it makes a huge difference.

We are very excited about the year ahead and look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child’s progress and make their final year of Key Stage 1 a happy, rewarding, and memorable one.
